The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) clarified its reason behind choosing their nominees for the Rajya Sabha and also accused founder-member Kumar Vishwas of being in the centre of the controversy to topple the Arvind Kejriwal government.
Development Minister Gopal Rai on Friday said that Mr. Vishwas was considered for the seat but his recent public comments against the party proved that he wasn’t the right choice.
“He is a person who attacks the party from every possible public platform. Can such a person be sent to the Rajya Sabha,” Mr. Rai asked.
He alleged that since the municipal elections in Delhi there have been attempts to bring down the government and Mr. Vishwas was at the centre of this conspiracy. “Most of the meetings in this regard involving a few MLAs were held at his residence. Kapil Mishra was a part of it. He was later removed from the Cabinet,” he said.
Mr. Vishwas hit back at Mr. Rai saying that he seems to have been woken up from deep slumber seven months after the party’s loss in municipal elections in Delhi.
