: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has come up with a proposal that promises to decongest the choked roads in the National Capital Region (NCR).
The plan suggests efficient connectivity through radial routes of the outer ring road with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway and Western Peripheral Expressway. According to the proposal, presented by NHAI Chairman Raghav Chandra, settlement areas will be de-congested through elevated corridors or by re-routing the networks by a green field alignment.
One of the radial roads will connect Azadpur and Sonipat, starting at Mukerba Chowk and joining the WPE at Kundli. The other routes are from Kashmere Gate to Baghpat, Nizamuddin Bridge to Dasna on NH-24, work for which has already been awarded, Noida to Buddh International Circuit that will include the already existing Delhi-Noida Expressway, Noida-Greater Noida Expressway and Yamuna Expressway, Lajpat Nagar to Kherli Kankar through the Sohna Road, Shivaji Place to Badli that will start from the Rajouri Garden metro station and then use the Najafgarh Road, Wazirpur to Pipli that will use the Auchandi-Bawana Road to reach Pipli, and Bhikaji Cama Place to NBRC Gate on NH-8.
There are also plans to decongest the NH-8, which connects Delhi and Gurgaon, by using a link road via Vasant Kunj - MG Road - NSG Gate on NH-8, and from Ambience Mall to MG Road (NH-236). The link between Ambience Mall and Aya Nagar on Gurgaon-Mehrauli Road (NH-236) will connect NH-8 to NH-236 (MG Road) bypassing the DLF Cyber City. This link will also connect with NH-236, also known as Faridabad Road, further connecting the Southern Peripheral Road of Gurgaon.
