In yet another incident of road rage in the Capital, a 37-year-old property dealer was shot at after his car brushed against a pedestrian at Patel Nagar on Thursday night.

According to the police, the incident took place around 9-15 p.m., when the victim, identified as Vipin Rajput, was returning home from his West Patel Nagar office. “While Rajput was driving back home, his car brushed against a pedestrian, who was with two other men. Soon the trio began hurling abuses at him. Rajput then came out of the car and got into a heated argument with them. As tensions soared, one of the three men whipped out a pistol and fired at Rajput, hitting him in the abdomen,” a police officer said.

The three men then fled the scene. Mr. Rajput’s associate, who was with him in the Hyundai Vernacar, rushed the bleeding property dealer to his house and then to B.L. Kapoor Hospital. The victim’s wife informed the police about the incident.

Mr. Rajput underwent a five-hour-long surgery during which a part of his intestine was removed. According to hospital authorities, the victim is still critical and under intensive care.

A police team that reached the spot recovered an empty cartridge. Footage from closed-circuit television cameras installed near the crime spot are been scanned.
