A Delhi court on Friday acquitted a music teacher and the principal of a government school in a sexual harassment case as the victims and their parents retracted their earlier statements to the police.
The Mahendra Park police in West Delhi had also got statements of the victims recorded before a Metropolitan Magistrate court under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure to make the case fool-proof. The students also gave a clean chit to the principal.
In their complaint, the five students had alleged that the music teacher, Vijay, called them into his room and made inappropriate comments. They also alleged that the teacher used to “pinch their arms, neck and pull their collar and identity cards.”
However, in the trial of the case, the five girls deposed that they had not been assaulted by accused Vijay in any manner and also denied complaining to the principal against the music teacher’s indecent behaviour. They also denied having made any statement to the police.
Their parents also denied that they had complained to the principal against the accused. Consequently, Additional Sessions Judge Gautam Manan acquitted the music teacher and the principal in the case.
