A 37-year-old woman, mother of two, has accused a temple priest in Outer Delhi’s Rohini of raping her.
According to the woman, the accused man had been raping her for the last five years.
“The accused had allegedly filmed the first time he had raped the woman by sedating her. After that he continued to rape her by blackmailing her with the video,” a police officer said.
Held on Friday
A case was registered at North Rohini police station in this connection on Thursday following which the accused was arrested on Friday evening.
According to police, the accused identified as Rajesh Pandey (42) who is a native of Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh is the priest at the Saibaba Temple in Rohini Sector-7 for the last 25 years and stays nearby with his two children and wife.
“The woman in her complaint told us that she had been visiting the temple for many years now and during her visits she became friendly with the priest. Around five years back when she discussed her personal problems with him, the priest promised to solve it by performing a small ritual. In the name of that ritual, he took her to his house where he intoxicated her and raped her,” a police officer said.
“The woman also told us that the priest had recorded a video of the incident and had been threatening her of leaking the video and uploading it on the internet if she disclosed the incident,” he added.
Police added that the video that the woman has mentioned in her complaint has not been traced so far and they are working on tracing it from the priest’s phone. Further investigation in the case is in progress.
