The post-mortem on the body of young Geetika Sharma, who allegedly hanged herself at her Ashok Vihar residence here on Saturday night, was conducted by a board of doctors at LNJP Hospital on Monday.
“The body has been handed over to the family after post-mortem, which will establish the cause of Geetika’s death. We are also recording statements of the family members to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the incident,” said a police officer.
Having gathered the necessary evidence, it is learnt that the police may question Gopal Kanda, Haryana Minister of State for Home, on Tuesday.
In her suicide note, Geetika has accused the Minister -- who tendered his resignation on Sunday after the Delhi Police registered a case of abetment to suicide against him -- and his associate Aruna Chadha of having ruined her life and harassed her family members.
Geetika, who was presently pursuing her post-graduation in management, earlier worked as a flight attendant with the now defunct MDLR Airlines owned by Mr. Kanda. After the airline stopped operations, she joined an international airline in Dubai where she was undergoing training. She had to come back to India after a letter allegedly casting aspersions on her character was received by the company.
It is alleged that Geetika was coerced into joining an MDLR subsidiary as a director in 2011. However, she recently quit the job to pursue higher education.
The former flight attendant was found hanging from the ceiling fan by her father around 9-15 a.m. on Sunday, after which the police were called in. Based on the suicide note, they registered a case against Mr. Kanda and Ms. Chadha. Her family members have alleged that she was under tremendous mental pressure as she was being forced by Mr. Kanda to again join the MDLR group.
