In a bid to promote peace and harmony among students from the Northeast and the locals here, the Delhi Police, going beyond their routine law and order responsibilities, organised a football match this past week. The match was organised by the North-West District Police at Sports Ground in New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp.

Both the teams had members from the local community as also residents of the Northeast to facilitate greater interaction between them and send across a message of brotherhood. A huge mixed crowd of spectators was also present.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-West) opened the match with the first kick.

The winning team was awarded the trophy and all participants were presented with gifts. After completion of the match, a get-together was also organised.

A few small steps like this one can go a long way in achieving what may otherwise seem difficult, and also play a key role in ending prejudices and regional discrimination.
