Surbhi who plans to get hitched in November this year wants to look fabulous at her wedding, but wants to do it within a budget. “It’s probably the biggest party my parents will throw in their life but I don’t want them to spend in excess. I want to find something exclusive to wear but I can’t afford to buy something made by a famous designer. That’s why I am here,” she says while a designer drapes a beautiful dupatta around her.

Surbhi is a visitor at the Wedding Asia bridal fair being organised at The Ashok hotel. The three-day exhibition that has over 80 exhibitors participating opened here on Friday.

The focus of the exhibition is on upcoming designers who can offer fresh, creative designs. Many of the stall have the designers present so you can have a conversation with them about what’s trending and get something custom-made. Its not just brides but there are also people who are planning to attend a wedding later in the year who are busy sifting through stuff.

Stalls from Mumbai, Kolkata and Dubai based exhibitors are attracting many because their creations are different from what is available in boutiques in the city.

Tamanna who has come from Dubai with her collection of clothes from Pakistan says Delhiites love to buy Shararas and Ghararas that come in exciting new colours and intricate work.

There are stalls that offer packaged invites, gifting and wrapping solutions, exclusive chocolates and fancy sweets, footwear, make-up, herbal beauty treatment, dental treatment, accessories, décor planners and even a mobile spa that can be set up at your event.

Talking about what’s trending, designer and make-up artist Supriti Batra says that for pre-bridal functions pastel shades are in this season and even blues and greys to be teamed up with natural make-up with just a dash of colour.

The wedding fair is on till August 31 at The Ashok hotel.
