The Delhi Police Special Cell on Thursday claimed they have seized a pen drive containing crucial details of the terror strike that the three arrested members of an alleged autonomous Jihadi group were planning to launch in the Capital. Special Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Arvind Deep said the data contained in the pen drive with storage capacity of 8 GB was “incriminating” against the arrested trio and some of the detained suspects, all of whom are sympathisers of Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM).

Sources in the Cell said most of the market places and malls marked as targets by the group were in South Delhi.

Apart from data shared through Internet and the said pen drive purportedly recovered from the possession of the accused, investigators are also going through the contents of the books which the trio possessed.

“The books include Urdu and Hindi titles like Mujahid ki Lalkar (A Jehadi’s challenge), Duniyabhar mein Musalmano ka Katle aam (slaughter of Muslims across the globe), Tareekh-e-Hind (India’s history), Jihad fi Sabililah (Jehad in the way of Allah), Apka Mustakbil (Your future) as well as hand-written notes on verses from the Holy Quran,” said Mr. Deep.

The three arrested so far — Sajid Ahmad, Sameer Ahmed and Shakir Ansari — were held after an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) went off while assembling at Sajid’s house. At least 10 others have been detained for questioning.

Social media

All communication among the accused initially took place through social media before they shifted to secured communication systems like chat rooms and WhatsApp where an online entity called “Talha” is said to be the brother of JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar.

On Wednesday, the police had said that all 13 had attended a meeting at Sajid’s home on December 20. Investigation has further revealed that they had another meeting in November in which the trio arrested were present but some of those now detained weren’t.

It was Sajid who introduced Talha to Shakir and was about to get a passport for him to travel to Pakistan and it was revealed they were planning to meet Azhar and Talha, said officers in the Cell.
