A group of parents on Monday filed a petition in the Delhi High Court. They challenged the Delhi Government decision to scrap the rule of allocating five points to children whose parents were transferred to the Capital from other States for admissions in nursery here.
The Government had on February 27 scrapped the rule. It did so after several parents moved the High Court challenging grant of points in the admissions to the children belonging to this category.
The petitioners, Major Saurabh Charan and other parents, sought quashing of the Government’s decision to scrap the rule, arguing that it was totally arbitrary and unjustified.
The petition is likely to come up for hearing on Tuesday.
The petitioners also sought directions to the Government to confirm the list of successful candidates, including their children, published by the schools concerned prior to the issuing of the notification for scrapping the rule.
In the alternate, they sought a fresh draw of lots for all categories of children by cancelling the entire draw held prior to February 27.
