Over 100 artistes from various genres will take the stage at Kamani Auditorium on Wednesday to celebrate World Dance Day 2015.

The extravaganza, titled “No Boundaries”, will offer a visual treat of different dance styles ranging from traditional to contemporary.

The event is being organised by Sadhya in association with Big Dance Centre and Friends of Art through a crowd-funding exercise, that asks patrons to contribute to reach the target of Rs.3 lakh needed to organise the festival.

The festival has already collected Rs.2.28 lakh through the exercise. Crowd-funding is fast becoming a popular way of organising shows in the absence of sponsorship or other types of funding.

The event will see dance gurus like Kalashram, Saroja Vaidyanathan and group, Ranjana Gauhar and group perform alongside popular dance companies in the city including The Dance Works, Big Dance Centre, Urshilla Dance Company, Aayam Dance Company, Banjara School of Dance and Sadhya.

The programme has been planned to ensure that upcoming artists and established gurus share the stage. Speaking about the event, Santosh Nair of Sadhya said the aim of the event was to foster mutual respect and a positive outlook towards dance. He said the festival has come a long way since the first time it was organised four years back.

Mr. Nair said the festival was organised with support of government through various cultural organisations like the Sangeet Natak Akademi, ICCR and NSD. The event will begin on Wednesday from 7.45 p.m. at Kamani Auditorim.
