Delhi PWD Minister Satyendra Jain on Monday said the work on two road projects between Vikaspuri and Wazirabad would be completed by end of this year so that people can enjoy hassle-free travel on Outer Ring Road.
Mr. Jain on Monday inspected various under-construction projects and announced that work on two projects would be completed by December 31, 2015. He also instructed officials to construct foot-over-bridges to ease traffic movement on Outer Ring Road.
“I inspected an under-construction PWD project between Wazirabad and Swaroop Nagar, which got delayed due to land acquisition issue. Locals are resisting demolition of their houses to make way for the road. “I have decided to use one half of the drain running along the road to erect pillars and construct road over it so no house will be demolished,” Mr. Jain said.
The Minister directed the PWD to expedite construction of elevated corridor between Wazirabad and Vikaspuri and ordered to complete the project by December 31.
“I have instructed PWD to assess the scope of building foot-over-bridges between Wazirabad and Mukarba Chowk. The traffic movement is too fast here and people can’t cross the road,” Mr. Jain said. --PTI
