The BJP termed the Delhi government’s budget as a “jugglery of statistics” while the Congress said that the budget was “hollow and a bundle of lies.”
Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari said, “In his budget 2018 speech, the Delhi Finance Minister seemed less focused on budget proposals but more on heaping critical comments on the Lieutenant-Governor, giving one more evidence of this government’s anarchic way of working.”
Mr. Tiwari further said that the government had announced schemes “without the constitutional approval due to which ultimately the people of Delhi will be disappointed”.
“This government has once again made tall claims on education and health but has failed to reply to even petty questions whether there has been improvement in the field of education. Why had the number of students continuously decreasing in Delhi government schools?” asked Mr. Tiwari.
The Congress too said that the budget was a “trick of statistics to deceive people”.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajay Maken said, “The budget for 2018-19 falls in the same category as the last three budgets, where the lofty schemes that were promised were not fulfilled. It is a budget full of lies, just on the paper and a betrayal on the people of Delhi.”
“It is strange that in every AAP budget, it is claimed that 1,500 buses would be added to the DTC fleet, 1,000 Mohalla Clinics would be established and CCTV cameras will be set up. But the ground reality is very different as none of these promises have been fulfilled” he said.
