A day after commercial operations resumed on the Ambani-run Delhi Airport Express Metro Line, which has now been mandated to not operate services at more than 50 km per hour, the fare tariff on the network has been increased by 50 per cent.
The hike came into effect on Wednesday with the minimum fare shooting up from Rs. 20 to Rs. 30 and the maximum from Rs. 100 to Rs. 150.
New products
Fares on the Airport Line are as mandated in the concessionaire agreement of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, a spokesperson for the Delhi Airport Metro Express Private Limited said.
“Most of the fares have remained the same. The most popular product -- the monthly 60/45 journey pass -- has been maintained at the same level. Some fares have been reduced by introducing new products like ‘Return Journey’ token and ‘Sunday/Holiday’ token,” said the spokesperson.
“It is in our interest to attract more and more passengers and we will continue to do so by designing a balanced fare structure within provisions of the agreement,” said the spokesperson.
