Noida’s new parking policy, which was supposed to come into effect from December this year, will now be implemented from January 2018. Under the new policy, the Noida Authority will hire fresh agencies to manage surface parking lots across the city.

A senior Authorityofficial said on Tuesday that they are in a process of extending the old agreement of parking contractors for 41 parking sites.

Contracts extended

“The decision to extend the old contracts has been taken by the authority as the companies for the new parking contracts for 96 sites is yet to be finalised. Once we are through with the entire plan, we shall implement it. We have just pushed the date by one month,” said Sandip Chandra, senior project engineer at the Noida Authority.

Currently their are around 41 authorised lots in Noida and as per the current policy, the Noida Authority charges ₹20 for parking four-wheelers and ₹10 for two-wheelers for 14 hours (9 a.m. to 11 p.m.) along the roads in the markets. “The contracts of the old tenders were supposed to end by November-end but they have been extended. We have already given 60 new parking lot contracts to new agencies through an e-tender in October,” Mr. Chandra said.
