The 16-year-old boy wanted in connection with the murders of his mother and sister in Greater Noida’s Gaur City on Tuesday has been detained in Varanasi, the police said on Friday.

Sources said the teen had boarded a train from Delhi to Varanasi.

The mobile and surveillance unit got his location when he switched on his mobile after reaching Varanasi. The local police were alerted and a team from Greater Noida was dispatched to the scene. They are questioning the boy.

A team of over 100 policemen from Gautam Buddha Nagar were on the lookout for the boy who was missing since the murders.

His photo was posted on social media to seek public help in tracing him.

The father of the teen had said that the boy was addicted to playing violent video games and that this has affected his behaviour.

Gautam Budh Nagar SSP Love Kumar, however, denied this connection.
