Residents of South Delhi and the trans-Yamuna areas can heave a sigh of relief as the power distribution company BSES clarified on Sunday that its consumers would not be inconvenienced by power disruption as the company would clear its dues with the State-run NTPC by Monday.
The NTPC had served notice on both BSES Rajdhani Power Limited (BRPL) and BSES Yamuna Power Limited (BYPL) demanding clearance of their dues amounting to over Rs.900 crore for supply of power and asking for renewal of the letter of credit which expired on August 31. The NTPC had also given the discoms time till September 7 to clear the dues failing which it warned that power supply could be stopped.
A BSES spokesperson said: “The BSES has ensured that no inconvenience would be caused to its 2.8 million consumers in the Capital as a consequence of the recent notice by NTPC to discontinue power supply to them from Tuesday.”
Outlining the arrangements, he stated: “The current dues of NTPC would be cleared by September 5. This would ensure no power disruption for our 28 lakh consumers.”
