A Nigerian man was caught by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at the Delhi airport on Thursday while allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine to Mumbai.

Ten capsules concealing cocaine, weighing a total of 185-gram and worth nearly Rs.30 lakh in the international market, were seized from him, said CISF spokesperson Hemendra Singh.

The accused has been identified as 38-year-old Chinazor Festus Mbalughi, who was in India on a business visa valid until March next year.

Mbalughi was to travel to Mumbai by an Indigo flight minutes before he was nabbed by the CISF. Officials said the accused had arrived at Terminal 1D of Indira Gandhi International Airport and was about to enter the terminal building when some CISF personnel deemed his behaviour suspicious and took him for a thorough screening of his belongings. “The screening revealed the presence of the narcotic substances wrapped in polythene and hidden in the handbag,” said the spokesperson.

Mbalughi has been handed over to the Narcotics Control Bureau.
