A delegation of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation met with the National Highways Authority of India officials on Tuesday to urge them to expedite work on the Urban Extension Road (UER)-2. The road will provide connectivity to areas in south-west, west and north-west of Delhi, the officials said.
The 43-km road sanctioned under the city’s Master Plan, will connect National Highway-1 to National Highway-10 via National Highway-8, read an official statement. Apart from reducing congestion by diverting traffic, the road, touted as a “third ring road” would also help reduce pollution levels, said officials.
The corporation was informed that work will begin in two months time after some hurdles were cleared, said sources.
