: The National Green Tribunal on Tuesday directed the Central Pollution Control Board to file data on population and vehicle densities in major cities.

A Bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Swatanter Kumar said that data on population, car density, and pollution level of major cities in India should be filed.

On January 6, the Tribunal had taken note of air pollution in India, and had directed States to file an affidavit stating the steps taken by them to curb air pollution.

The CPCB told the Bench that report on pollution levels had already been filed.

The matter will come up for hearing on May 30.
