A seven-year-old girl was hospitalised after she was allegedly sexually assaulted by a 45-year-old neighbour in Central Delhi’s Baljeet Nagar on Tuesday.
According to the police, accused Ram Chander Mahto picked her up when she was playing and took her to his house, which was empty.
“He sexually assaulted the girl, but when she started crying the neighbours were alarmed. The accused then left the house, abandoning the girl crying in pain,” said a senior police officer. Neighbours informed the family, who took the girl to Lady Hardinge Hospital.
Based on the statement of the girl’s mother, a case has been registered. The accused was produced before a court and sent 14 days in judicial custody.
