National level boxer held for car jacking in Narela

Two young men, including a national level boxer, allegedly involved in a carjacking case which was followed by a police encounter leading to the death of a gang members at Narela in Outer Delhi a couple of days ago, have been arrested by the Crime Branch.

The accused were fleeing after robbing a driver of his car in Rohini on Monday afternoon, when Constables Baljit Singh Chahal and A.S. Bohara, posted at Ghogha crossing police picket, spotted the vehicle and started chasing it. The speeding vehicle came to a halt after it rammed the sidewall of a narrow lane in Sannoth village, following which the policemen asked the occupants to surrender.

However, one of the two occupants opened fire, injuring constable Chahal. The suspect was seriously injured in retaliatory fire and declared dead on arrival at a nearby hospital. The other accused managed to flee.

The Crime Branch sleuths established the identity of the deceased as Amit Dahiya and launched a hunt for his accomplices. Acting on a tip-off, they conducted raids and arrested two of them from a Gurgaon hotel on Wednesday. They were identified as Aman and Sumit Dahiya.
