Mishra suspends DJB engineer

August 12, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 09:34 am IST - New Delhi:

Delhi Jal Board (DJB) Chairperson Kapil Mishra on Wednesday suspended an executive engineer and issued a show-cause notice to Member (Drainage) of the DJB over ‘careless work’.

Announcing his decision on Twitter, Mr. Mishra wrote: “Witnessed careless work by some DJB officers in Dwarka. Suspending Exe. Eng. , Show cause to Member Drainage. 15 days deadline to improve [sic]”.

Mr. Mishra had gone on an inspection to Dwarka and after the residents complained of the brimming drains and alleged shoddy job done by the DJB, he suspended the engineer.

In June, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had suspended two engineers. Following the suspension, the engineers of the water utility protested against Mr. Kejriwal for allegedly misbehaving with DJB officials.

Subsequently, the DJB Member (Water Supply) resigned on ‘health grounds’, but sources had claimed that Mr. Kejriwal had misbehaved with him.
