A 15-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a distant relative at her home in outer Delhi’s Aman Vihar on Sunday morning, the police said. The victim is undergoing treatment at a hospital, they added.

The police control room received a call at 8.35 a.m. regarding the rape of a minor girl in Aman Vihar. A police team reached the house and took the victim to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital in Mangolpuri for treatment.

The 22-year-old accused was held by the family members and handed over to the police.

“The accused lives in the same house on the third floor. The girl had gone to the terrace early in the morning when he spotted her alone and raped her. The accused is a distant relative of the victim. Her parents had gone to their village in Bihar at the time of the incident. The accused had come from his home town in March and was looking for a job,” said Rajender Singh Sagar, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).

Mr. Sagar added that the accused has been booked under IPC Section 376 (rape) and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

Victim stable

“The victim’s condition is stable. She will be discharged soon,” he added.

The police said the victim’s family got suspicious when she failed to return for a long time. They went upstairs to check. When they failed to find her, they went into the accused’s room. They found her there in an unconscious state. They caught him and handed him over to the police.
