A minor girl was gang-raped allegedly by five persons, including two minors, in East Delhi’s Madhu Vihar on Wednesday night.
Three among the accused are known to the 16-year-old victim, a student of Class XI in a government school.
According to the police, the girl purportedly told them that around 9 p.m. after her tuition classes were over, she had gone to meet a couple of friends at a park near her house. She added that they took her to a place near the railway tracks in the area where three others were already present. All five then allegedly took turns to rape her.
“When she offered resistance, they threatened that they would stab her. They also warned her against telling anyone about the incident. She also said that the accused took her mobile phone,” said a police officer.
The girl informed her parents about the incident who took her to the police station and filed a complaint. A medical examination confirmed sexual assault after which a case under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered. The girl was provided with medical aid and counselling by an NGO.
Three of the accused, including the two juveniles, have been apprehended. The adult accused has been identified as 20-year-old Anil while a hunt is on to track down the others. The absconding accused are also in their twenties.
Family members have told the police that the two boys who met the girl at the park also went to the same tuition classes as her.
