The Delhi Metro railway’s average daily earning crossed Rs.1 crore in the month of September.
According to a Delhi Metro Rail Corporation official, the daily earning shot up and crossed the one-crore mark in September, making it the most profitable month since the metro rail became operational on December 25, 2002.
The Delhi Metro’s average earning per day during September was Rs.1,00,27,877. Among the three operational lines, the Dwarka Sector 9-Yamuna Bank corridor (Line 3) earned the highest revenue of Rs.41,39,892, while the Dilshad Garden-Rithala section (Line 1) recorded Rs.31,27,559. The earning from the Jehangirpuri-Central Secretariat corridor (Line 2) was Rs.27,60,426.
The highest revenue earned on a single day stood at Rs.1,18,65,966, which was achieved on September 7. During the month, the Delhi Metro recorded an average daily ridership of 8.53 lakh.
“On August 3 this year, the metro earned Rs.1.25 crore, the highest revenue earning so far since operations started in 2002,” said a DMRC official.
