As applicants from all over the country await the first cut-off list of various colleges under Delhi University, many colleges have set tough eligibility criteria for their much sought after commerce courses.

Dyal Singh College under the South Campus is one of them, as it has set 85 per cent for Maths and 85 per cent for Economics in Boards as basic eligibility criteria for getting into Economics Honours.

This step, to the dismay of many Economics Honours aspirants, has led to exclusion of students who took Science and not Economics in their Class XII Boards, or Commerce students who did not take up Maths.

“It is true that we have set this as our eligibility criteria for admission into Economics Honours in our college, but we would look into the matter at the admissions committee meet of the college,” said Dyal Singh College principal Inderjeet Bakshi.

“However, for B.Com Honours we have removed Maths as an eligibility criteria as per the university regulations,” he added. The college, which is centrally located at Lodhi Road, offers various arts, Commerce and Science courses. The cut-off list for the same, as per the university rules, shall be out on June 27.
