Man shot dead in Bawana

July 06, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:33 am IST - NEW DELHI:

A 35-year-old man was shot dead by two motorcycle-borne men near his house in Outer Delhi’s Bawana on Monday evening.

Suspect known?

The victim’s family members have suspected the role of a man who had earlier been jailed for molesting the victim’s niece.

Police said that their probe has revealed the involvement of the man suspected by the victim’s family, but it was too early to say whether the murder had any connection to the molestation incident and his subsequent imprisonment.

The victim was a resident of Bajitpur village in Bawana.

He was taking a walk outside his house on Monday evening when two men on a motorcycle approached him and shot him at close range.

Eyewitnesses have claimed to have seen the suspected man’s face during the incident and this has led the police to suspect his involvement.

The suspect was jailed late last year for molesting the deceased’s niece.

He had been released sometime in January this year, police said.
