A 28-year-old woman was allegedly shot at by her husband on Saturday after she refused to withdraw a case of sexual harassment against him for allegedly molesting his eight-year-old stepdaughter last month.
Woman out of danger
According to the police, the woman was shot at by her second husband at a a local market. While the accused fled, the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital. “She has suffered injuries to her abdomen and left cheek. She is out of danger,” said a senior police officer.
The police said that the man had allegedly molested the woman’s daughter from her first husband, whom she had separated from over six years ago. “She filed the complaint on May 29, but he was at large. However, he would contact her using various modes of communication to intimidate her into taking back the case or face the consequences,” said the officer.
Following her refusal, the man attacked her on Saturday. The police said they would arrest him soon.
The woman, meanwhile, told the police that she had met the accused a couple of years ago and married him. She has a five-year-old child from her second marriage.
