A large number of people, including members of the Vishva Hindu Parishad and the Hindu Yuva Vahini, protested outside the office of a cellphone company here on Tuesday after one its employees allegedly tore an Indian flag and threw it in a dustbin.

The accused, identified as a Chinese national, works as a production manager in the firm located in Sector 63.

The protesters raised slogans against the accused and demanded his arrest.

“We demand that the police analyse CCTV footage. The incident has hurt our sentiments, and we cannot afford to avoid it,” said Vineet Kumar, a protester. Heavy police force was deployed at the scene to prevent any untoward incidents.

Later, senior police officers reached the area to pacify the protesters. “We will take action only after we scan the CCTV footage,” the police said.
