A 21-year-old man had a close shave on Tuesday as he tried to cross the track while a metro train was about to leave the platform at Shastri Nagar station.

A major incident was averted after the metro train driver applied emergency brakes.

Handed over to police

“The passenger was illegally crossing the track from one platform to another while a train was about to move. He was saved due to timely application of emergency brakes by the train operator,” said an official of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC).

“The passenger was then handed over to the Delhi Metro Rail Police for necessary action. He was penalised for ₹150 and was let off after counselling,” the DMRC official added.

In a video clip that went viral on Wednesday, the man can be seen crossing the track just as the train is about to leave the platform.
