Lawyers protest Allahabad killing

March 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:34 am IST - New Delhi:

Lawyers at the Capital’s six district courts on Friday abstained from attending courts to register their protest over the killing of a lawyer by a Sub-Inspector in the district courts premises in Allahabad this past Wednesday.

Convener of the Coordination Committee of the All District Courts’ Bar Associations, Sanjeev Nasiar, told The Hindu that the abstention from the courts was successful.

He said the government had issued weapons to the police personnel not to shoot at people but to protect them. The killing of the lawyer by the police officer was more serious as he fired in the court premises, Mr. Nasiar added.
