Victim, boys live in same building; was lured with sweets

: Two minor boys have been apprehended for allegedly sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl in north-west Delhi’s Swaroop Nagar.

The victim and the juveniles— aged 13 and 12— stay in different floors of the same building. A police officer said the incident happened more than a week ago.

“The boys took the girl to a secluded spot after luring her with sweets. They then allegedly sexually assaulted her, and left her outside their house,” said the officer.

‘Victim threatened’

Before leaving, they threatened the girl of dire consequences if she shared her ordeal with anyone, added the officer.

Fearing that they may harm her again, the girl kept the incident to herself, but in due course, she started complaining of continuous pain in her private parts. The family took her to a doctor for a check-up during which it was confirmed that she had been raped.

The girl finally confided in her mother, after which she was taken to the Swaroop Nagar police station and a case under relevant provisions of the Protection of Children Against Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act was registered.

NGO to the rescue

The victim was provided counselling by an NGO following the registration of the case .

Subsequently, the boys were apprehended, the officer added.

The victim and the 12-year-old are tenants of the house which is owned by the other juvenile’s family, said the police.
