Relentless: Kapil Mishra protests at the Vidhan Sabha in the Capital on Tuesday.

Day Two of the ongoing Delhi Assembly session on Tuesday started off on a stormy note as suspended Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Kapil Mishra protested against one of the party’s Rajya Sabha pick, leading Speaker Ram Niwas Goel to have him removed from the House.

Mr. Mishra, who was suspended by the AAP last year after he accused CM Arvind Kejriwal of corruption, held a poster of AAP Rajya Sabha MP-elect Sushil Gupta with a snake around his neck. In the poster Mr. Mishra held up, Mr. Kejriwal’s face had been morphed onto the snake’s head. Mr. Mishra alleged that the AAP had “sold” the seat to Mr. Gupta, who had left the Congress in November 2017 to join the AAP.

As the Speaker ordered the marshals to escort Mr. Mishra out, BJP MLA Manjinder Singh Sirsa got involved. Mr. Sirsa was also escorted out by marshals.

Mr. Goel said the matter of Mr. Sirsa preventing marshals from enacting his orders would be referred to the Privileges Committee. He also “condemned” Mr. Mishra’s statement disparaging a Rajya Sabha MP-elect.
