Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik visited the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here on Sunday to enquire about the health of Jaga and Kalia, the formerly conjoined twins who were separated in a complex operation that lasted over 11 hours on October 25.

Mr. Patnaik met the children and their parents Bhuyan Kanhar and Pushpanjali Kanhar during his visit to AIIMS, the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement.
The parents expressed gratitude for the support by the State government. The Office of the Chief Resident Commissioner, Odisha, is constantly monitoring, supervising and providing logistic support to the twins.
Besides enquiring about the health of the children, the Odisha Chief Minister also discussed their ongoing treatment with AIIMS Director Prof. Randeep Guleria and Prof. Ashok Mahapatra.
“The doctors explained that the twins are recuperating well and are monitored constantly. Jaga is far more stable than Kalia, who is still under intensive care. Kalia is improving gradually and they hope he will stabilise soon,” added the statement.
