Invest in quality over quantity during sales

The end-of-season sales currently going on around the city may tempt you to stock up on summer staples like shorts and t-shirts, but they are actually the best time to invest in clothes that are otherwise out of reach.

Investment pieces like a well-fitted pair of trousers or a smart cocktail dress are what sales are made for.

From high-street brands to designer stores across the NCR, summer sales are the best time to invest in clothing and accessories instead of everyday articles.

A finely-crafted leather bag or a pair of good quality shoes may seem to stretch your budget this season, but they will make up for it by outliving all the items bought at street markets.

Apart from apparel, accessories like watches, sunglasses and costume jewellery that are fit for a nice evening out should also be on your shopping lists.

So instead of quantity, go for quality this shopping season.

So the July sales have finally arrived in the city. And all the things you have been eying for the past several months are finally affordable now and even penny-pinchers are ready to open their wallets.

But instead of neatly folded stacks of clothing waiting to be bought in your favourite store, you are more likely to see crumpled pieces of clothing lying about.

The gilded mirror in the changing room too seems like a distant dream when you are waiting in a line behind people who have at least 10 pieces of clothing with them.

The cash counter is another task of mammoth proportions.

And, to top it all, you are actually spending more money during this season than at any other time. However, there are some measures that the smart and fashionables in the city are taking to get the best deals without the additional hassles and even avoiding buyer’s guilt.

Going on a weekday, preferably in the morning or early afternoon is a good option. And those with a full-time job are taking time off to make a trip to the mall.

Bad weather can also affect your shopping judgment, so the average fashionistas make sure they avoid open markets and opt for air-conditioned retail havens across the city instead.

They avoid shopper’s guilt by buying only the things they need and not just because they are on sale.

If all else fails, Internet shopping is always an option.
