IFS, ACB officers held for graft

An Anti-Corruption Bureau officer and a Forest Department officer were arrested on bribery charges and sent to five days police custody by a court on Sunday.

ACB Deputy SP Subhasish Chakrabarty and IFS officer Alankar Jha were arrested by an ACB special team from a restaurant on the northern fringes of the city yesterday when Jha was allegedly trying to bribe Chakrabarty.

They will be in police custody till September 29 when the case will be heard again.

Jha had allegedly been involved in a misappropriation of funds case when he was the Director of the Darjeeling Zoo and Chakrabarty is the investigation officer in that case. - PTI
