Discreet searches being carried out at vital locations
A high alert was sounded and security intensified in the Capital in the wake of the serial blasts in Mumbai on Wednesday.
“The entire force, including quick reaction teams and the special weapons and tactics teams, has been put on alert. Discreet searches are being carried out at the airport, railway stations and bus terminals.
Security personnel deployed at major market places and places of worship have been directed to keep a close watch on any suspicious activity.
Men in plainclothes have been deployed and patrolling intensified, particularly in the security sensitive areas,” said an officer, adding that the arrangements had been reviewed by senior police officers.
While the contingency plans are in place, the police are also in contact with their counterparts in the adjoining States.
Besides, Central Industrial Security Force personnel deployed at the metro stations and the airport have been directed to increase vigilance and ensure proper screening of passengers. “They have been put on a high alert,” said CISF spokesperson Rohit Katiyar.
The Delhi Police are yet to identify those behind a low-intensity explosion outside the Delhi High Court on May 25. No one was injured in the blast. The attack on foreign tourists outside the historic Jama Masjid in the Walled City of Delhi last year also remains unsolved.
