Adequate chairs, stretchers and wheelchairs for patients and their relatives/wards at the OPD registration area at Safdarjung Hospital and large-screen TVs highlighting importance of healthy lifestyle are among the suggestions offered by the Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr. Harsh Vardhan, who visited the hospital on Friday morning.

The Minister inspected the emergency ward, ICU, dog bite and snake bite wards, eye donation centre, dispensary and the sports injury centre at the hospital. “The success of a doctor lies in ensuring that a patient does not return to the hospital after recovery. For this the doctor should educate the patient on the lifestyle to adopt so as to avoid falling ill again,’’ said Dr. Vardhan, while speaking to the doctors at the hospital.

Stating that about 80 per cent of health care is about prevention, he said: “Doctors should develop a consciousness in patients on the importance of yoga and exercise in leading lives free of ailments and with dignity.’’
