Working towards ensuring that patients aren’t hurried and their waiting time is cut short, State Health Minister Satyendra Jain on Monday directed medical superintendents to increase the Out Patient Department (OPD) consultation timing from 4 hours to 6 hours in the government hospitals in the city.

Earlier, the time was from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. which has now been shifted to 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

In his tweet, the Minister posted this communication which noted that “this new system would give sufficient time for the patients to be attended to, and they will not be squeezed into a two-and-a-half hour time slot and the crowding can be lessened”. He announced that registration counters will open from 7.30 a.m. and will shut at 1 p.m to ensure that it takes 15 minutes or less.
