Union Minister and senior BJP leader Vijay Goel on Monday undertook a ‘Morning Walk Abhiyan’ at Lodi Gardens to interact with Delhiites over “zero development work” undertaken by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.

The initiative is part of the party’s efforts to connect with voters ahead of the municipal polls on April 23.

Union Human Resource Development Minister Prakash Javdekar, who accompanied Mr. Goel, said that the initiative had multiple benefits, including helping the party interact with senior citizens as well as assess what the youth “desires and what their ideas and aspirations are”.

Attack on AAP

“During my interaction I found that people were excited to discuss Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his development model. They were fascinated with his style of working and hailed his policies as stepping stones for a bright future for India. Initially people saw the AAP as a ray of hope as they promised to uproot corruption back in 2015 but now their mask is off and people have realised that they have nothing to offer other than excuses, abuses and scams,” Mr. Goel said.

Mr. Goel added that instead of Delhi’s development, the AAP “is only concerned about its own development and selfish interests”.

“They tried winning in other States, but failed miserably due to their poor record here in Delhi and people now feel cheated,”” Mr. Goel said. The Union Minister claimed that people complained that other than “derogatory words” for the BJP and the Prime Minister, the AAP “hasn’t fulfilled the tall promises” it made.

“We will continue with this initiative to know more about people’s issues and work towards resolving them,” Mr. Goel added.

Yatri Sampark Abhiyan

Besides the morning walk abhiyan, Mr. Goel also launched Yatri Sampark Abhiyan to continue the dialogue with general public, which will see him and the BJP’s national president and Member of Parliament Vinay Sahastrabuddhe interact with commuters.
