Spoilt for choice: A garment stall at the “Northeast Calling” festival in the Capital.

A two-day North-East festival, organised by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, ended here on Sunday. Delhiites managed to get a flavour of the northeastern States.

The stalls were decorated in a style depicting the north-east. The festival was divided into four major areas — handicrafts, agro-horticulture, handloom and Incredible India. Binta Rai, PRO Sikkim tourism said, “It is a good place for tourism advertisement.”

One got a taste of the spiciest chilli in the world — ‘king chilli’ natively known as Bhut jolokia.

Padmini Poonam, owner of Debeshwari house, said, “It’s a good initiative by the government because most of the Indians are indifferent towards the boundaries and traditions of north-east India.”
