A Delhi Police constable who lost his life while fighting criminals on patrolling duty in 2012 is among the 20 officers and personnel from the force selected for various police medals this year.

Constable Bijender was stabbed to death in September 2012 while he was trying to help another man injured by a group of boys. Following a scuffle with them, he was stabbed on his chest near Kotha No. 57 in G.B. Road.

He has been selected for Gallantry (posthumously) award. In addition, two officers — Joint Commissioner of Police Dependra Pathak and Deputy Commissioner of Police Hari Mohan Meena — have been awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.

Seventeen others have been selected for Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
