Women often bear the brunt of unemployment as men are generally given preference in many jobs. The camera zooms in on an unemployed woman who heads the queue consisting of many others, all waiting to register themselves at the Employment Exchange Office in Allahabad. The Employment offices in Uttar Pradesh offices have been flooded with applicants after the State chief minister Akhilesh Yadav pledged to give unemployment benefits to unemployed graduates between the ages of 35 to 40. As can be seen in the photograph, women are in plenty.
