In what the police are calling the ‘Special 26’ case, five persons have been arrested for allegedly cheating people by posing as CBI officials. They belong to the notorious Saurender alias Sonu gang.

The police zeroed in on the accused — Surender Kumar alias Sonu (40), Ramesh alias Dabri (30), Arjun alias Ajay (33), Ashok alias Billa (22) and Rattan Solanki (27) — after Sarojini Nagar resident Laxmi Devi registered a complaint saying that a man had duped her into parting with her gold ring and ₹5,000 cash. Investigation led the police to the gang. “A team laid a trap near Moti Lal Nehru College and found them inside a Santro car,” said DCP (South) Ishwar Singh.
