Evaluation boycott to continue: DUTA

Teachers’ body warns MHRD, UGC

The General Body of the Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) on Friday decided that it would continue to boycott evaluation “in the face of continuing apathy from the MHRD, UGC and DU Administration.”

It warned the MHRD and the UGC that no displacement of working ad hoc teachers will be tolerated and that unless the “mischievous” roster notification of May 5 is withdrawn and the autonomous colleges scheme is put on the back-burner, no cooperation should be expected from the teaching community.

DUTA said in DU, this refusal to withdraw the notification has put a stop to permanent appointments and endangered the re-appointment of ad hoc teachers in the new session that will start in July.

“Teachers in this premier institution have worked without a single promotion for the last 10 years. Over 4,000 teachers have been working on ad hoc and temporary basis against vacant positions. The DU administration has taken no visible steps in the resolution of issues regarding appointment, promotions and pension,” the DUTA said in a statement.

The DUTA demanded that if the HRD Minister and the DU V-C cannot resolve the urgent and long pending demands of teachers, they should both resign.
