“Antardhvani”, Delhi University’s annual festival is set to take place this February. All the colleges and various departments have been directed not to organise any cultural festival or conference that might prevent anyone attending or participating in the festival.
According to a notification sent out by the Dean, Academics, the festival, slated to take place over three days, will have all the features of the previous festival, including a flower show, food plazas, cultural competitions and other star attractions.
In last year’s Antardhvani, Vice-Chancellor Dinesh Singh surprised students and faculty when he attended the festival riding an elephant. The notification does not say whether this will be repeated.
Special features of this year include the award of “good practices”, for which the theme this year is “University of Delhi: Meeting the Challenges of India.”
Last year, this award went to those who employed “good practises” to achieve the goals set out in the now defunct four-year undergraduate programme.
The sound and light show, which was introduced last year, but had to be cancelled on day one because of unexpected rain, will be showcased again this year because of “popular demand”. There will be an international plaza that will showcase culture, history and lifestyle. There will also be an innovation plaza that will showcase new knowledge creation resulting from the undergraduates’ research projects.
