Newly-appointed Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi will assume duty from Thursday, nearly four months after former V-C Dinesh Singh demitted office in late October.
Mr. Tyagi was sent a communication on his appointment nearly a month back by the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development. The former Dean of faculty of legal studies at South Asian University (SAU) had asked for some time from the Ministry before joining DU in order to “settle his responsibilities” at the SAU.
“I am joining office on Thursday. I have interacted with my colleagues and they have briefed me informally for now,” Mr. Tyagi said.
Mr. Tyagi will be welcomed in office by the officiating V-C Sudhish Pachauri. Unlike his predecessor, Mr. Tyagi will not take up a residence on DU campus. Instead, he will continue to live at his present residence in Jawaharlal Nehru University.
Mr. Tyagi has a PhD in Legal Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University and LLM in Legal Studies from Columbia University.
