A nine-year-old boy was run over by a car allegedly being driven by a Delhi University professor in West Delhi's Chhawla area late Wednesday.

Surender Kumar, DCP (South-West), said the woman driver rushed the victim to the hospital and then surrendered before the local police. The boy, however, succumbed to his injuries.

The woman was arrested after being booked for causing death by negligence and rash driving.

The dead boy's family, meanwhile, alleged that the errant driver was talking on mobile phone at the time of the accident. Police said they have not found any such angle in their probe so far.
