Docs may go on strike on Nov. 1 over OPD timings

Resident doctors in the city have threatened to shut down patient department services on November 1 if the Delhi government fails to take back its decision to extend OPD timings at its hospitals.

In its October 9 order, the Delhi government had extended OPD timings saying that facilities would remain functional from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. so that there is enough time to attend to patients and avoid crowding. The timing earlier was 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Black ribbons

Over 15,000 resident doctors in city government hospitals wore black ribbons to work on Wednesday to protest against the extended OPD timings.

The Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association expressed concern over the “apathetic attitude” of the Delhi government towards their demands. Meanwhile, AIIMS resident doctors said they will go on hunger strike from Thursday if there is any further delay in the implementation of the 7th pay panel recommendations.
